Nothing tastes better than a warm loaf of Homemade Sandwich Bread. The smell fills the whole kitchen and makes everyone eager to grab a slice. Today I want to share my simple way to bake the perfect sandwich bread. I started making it for my kids because they love fresh bread, and now it has become a family tradition. Every time I take it out of the oven, they gather around, waiting for the first warm slice with butter melting on top.
I always begin with the basics: flour, yeast, a little sugar, salt, milk, and butter. These simple ingredients turn into something magical when you treat them with care. I mix the yeast with warm milk and sugar to wake it up, then stir in the flour and salt. After that, I knead the dough until it feels smooth and elastic under my hands. The kneading gives the bread its wonderful structure, and I enjoy the rhythm of it.
Once the dough rises and doubles in size, I shape it into a loaf and place it in a pan. I love this step because I can already imagine how the golden crust will form in the oven. The smell of baking bread makes everyone smile, and I always peek through the oven window like an excited child.
When the Homemade Sandwich Bread comes out, the crust looks golden and crisp while the inside stays soft and fluffy. I let it cool just enough to slice it, but never too long, because my kids beg for that first warm piece. They spread butter or jam, and sometimes they even eat it plain because the flavor speaks for itself.
This bread never fails to bring comfort and joy to my home. It tastes moist, fluffy, and fresh, and it makes the perfect sandwich. I encourage you to try it for yourself. The process feels easy, the ingredients stay simple, and the reward feels priceless. Nothing matches the happiness of baking your own loaf and sharing it with the people you love. One slice will convince you that homemade bread always beats store-bought.

Easy Homemade Sandwich Bread
Ingredients
- 500 g all purpose flour
- 1 tbsp dry yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- salt to taste
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 ¼ cup warm water
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, warm milk, and softened butter. Mix with a spoon or spatula until the ingredients start to come together. Transfer the dough to a clean surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes, or until it feels smooth, soft, and elastic. If the dough feels sticky, sprinkle a little extra flour as you knead.
- Lightly oil a clean bowl and place the dough inside, turning it once to coat the surface lightly with oil. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a damp kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Grease a 9-by-5-inch loaf pan with butter. Punch down the risen dough to release the air. Transfer it to a lightly floured surface and press it into a rectangle about 9-by-6 inches. Starting from the short end, roll the dough tightly into a log, tucking the edges underneath to create a smooth, taut surface.
- Place the shaped dough into the prepared loaf pan. Cover again with plastic wrap or a clean towel and let it rest for about 40 minutes. The dough should rise again and fill the pan nicely.
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). Bake the loaf for about 40–45 minutes, or until the crust turns golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove the bread from the oven and immediately brush the top with melted butter. This step gives the loaf a beautiful shine and adds extra flavor. Let the bread cool completely on a wire rack before slicing to keep the inside soft and fluffy.
