The lovely thing about this paste, is that you going to make your date paste without any extra adding or preservatives! just a pure and natural date paste.
I use the date paste in many of my recipes as date squaes, date cookies, maamoul and date truffles. You can also add to your paste date your favourite taste to the date as cinnamon, cardamom, ground anise or sesame.
What type of date is used in date paste Recipe for Cookies and date squares Filling?
You can use any good quality dates, preferably the soft variety that’s easy to mash and shape. I personally prefer the dark coloed ones, they are sweeter and have a softer, more luscious texture inside.
For how long can i preserve my date paste?
You can preserve it without adding the melted butter for months, store it in an airtight container. You can divide it into portions, wrap them, and freeze for later use too. It stays fresh for months and makes baking so much easier when you have it on hand!
Why should i cook it on the stream?
Steaming is the perfect method to soften the dates gently without stripping them of their rich, natural sweetness and nutritional value. That way, you end up with a smooth, flavorful paste that’s full of depth and character, ideal for all your dessert creations.
This homemade date paste is not only healthier than store bought versions, but also more budget friendly and absolutely delicious. You’ll love how versatile it is!
