Best Butter Cookie
December 14, 2022
These easy and best butter cookies are worth trying; the taste melts in your mouth, and they are so easy to make with simple ingredients. We are 10 days away from Christmas, and these cookies are perfect to serve at your Christmas family teatime gathering. The secret to perfect butter cookies is to use the right amount of flour; if you use too little flour, the cookies will be unstable and flat, and if you use too much, they will be difficult to pipe.
What ingredients will you need to make these cookies?
You’ll need simple ingredients, such as:
- Butter
- Sugar
- Vanilla extract
- Flour
- 1 Egg yolk
How to make the best butter cookies?
- Mix the butter with the powdered sugar, then add the egg yolk and mix until smooth and buttery.
- Add flour and a pinch of salt, knead just until you have a smooth butter cookie dough.
- Fill the cookie dough into a decorating bag attached with a decorating tip.
- Pipe the cookie in a small rose shape onto a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. With a wooden spoon, make a small hole in the middle of the cookies for the filling.
- Bake in preheated oven for 12 minutes at 180°C (365°F) or until the cookies are light golden.
- Fill cookies with strawberry jam (watch the above video for more instructions).
- Store in cookies jar at room temperature.
Notes
- All ingredients must be at room temperature, including the butter and egg yolk.
- Use powdered sugar; it melts easily in the butter without over-mixing.
- If the dough ends up sticky (it depends on the flour types), gradually add more flour, 1 tablespoon at a time.
- Gather the dough until smooth cookies dough, don’t over knead it.
- Bake in a medium-high oven at 180°C (365°F) on the middle oven rack.
