In a measuring cup, in warm milk, dissolve the yeast with 1 tablespoon of sugar and let sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Place the flour, egg, vanilla extract, salt, and milk mixture in the mixer bowl and knead at a slow speed.
Cut the softened butter into small pieces and gradually incorporate it into the dough while kneading. Mix until a smooth, elastic dough is formed.
Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and set aside for 1 hour to rise.
Once the dough has risen, add the pearl sugar and knead it in by hand until it’s evenly distributed.
Preheat your waffle iron to medium-high heat.
Divide the dough into 8-10 equal portions and form them into balls.
Place 2 balls onto the waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crispy.
Repeat with the remaining dough balls.
Serve it with your favorite toppings like whipped cream, fresh fruit, or chocolate sauce.
