Belgian Liege Waffles

Ingredients
  

  • 350 g All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup warm milk add more or less depends on flour type
  • 1 teaspoon yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 90 g unsalted butter softened
  • 120 g Pearl sugar

Instructions
 

  • In a measuring cup, in warm milk, dissolve the yeast with 1 tablespoon of sugar and let sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • Place the flour, egg, vanilla extract, salt, and milk mixture in the mixer bowl and knead at a slow speed.
  • Cut the softened butter into small pieces and gradually incorporate it into the dough while kneading. Mix until a smooth, elastic dough is formed.
  • Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and set aside for 1 hour to rise.
  • Once the dough has risen, add the pearl sugar and knead it in by hand until it’s evenly distributed.
  • Preheat your waffle iron to medium-high heat.
  • Divide the dough into 8-10 equal portions and form them into balls.
  • Place 2 balls onto the waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crispy.
  • Repeat with the remaining dough balls.
  • Serve it with your favorite toppings like whipped cream, fresh fruit, or chocolate sauce.
