Homemade Italian Pizza

Ingredients
  

For the dough:

  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt or as desired
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water

Pizza sauce or:

  • 6 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon thyme or oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

Toppings:

  • 100 g Parmesan cheese
  • 300 g mozzarella cheese
  • Slices of sweet peppers
  • Mushroom slices
  • Black and green olive slices
  • Onion cubes
  • Tomatoes cut into cubes
  • Optional: additional vegetables or meat as desired

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, combine the dough ingredients and knead for 10 minutes until you obtain a soft, elastic dough.
  • Lightly grease another bowl with olive oil, place the dough inside, and coat it with a little olive oil. Cover and let it rest in a warm place for 1–2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  • Prepare the sauce by combining all sauce ingredients in a small bowl and mixing well.
  • Spread half of the dough onto a baking tray.
  • Spread the sauce over the dough, leaving a 2 cm border around the edges.
  • Sprinkle the cheeses evenly over the sauce, then add olives, mushrooms, peppers, onions, and tomatoes. Add any other vegetables or meat if desired.
  • Bake the pizza in a preheated oven at 220°C until golden brown and cooked through.
