- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 125 g yogurt
- ½ cup orange juice
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 ½ cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- For orange sauce
- 1 Cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon corn starch
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract until the sugar fully dissolves and the mixture becomes pale and slightly frothy.
Add the yogurt and freshly squeezed orange juice to the egg mixture. Give it a quick mix to combine.
Add the sifted flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and orange zest to the egg mixture. Mix everything together until the dry ingredients are gone and you have a smooth cake batter.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (360°F) for 50 to 55 minutes.
To prepare the orange sauce: in a saucepan, add orange juice, sugar, and cornstarch. Bring to a simmer over medium heat until thickened and boiling.
